For more than 60 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada has been a trusted partner for families, providing kids and teens with a safe, supportive place to learn, grow, and belong. Every day, we open our doors to more than 2,000 youth across Southern Nevada, offering opportunities that build confidence, spark curiosity, and help them discover their potential.
Through high-quality programs and caring relationships with trained staff and mentors, we create environments where youth feel encouraged to try new things, develop life skills, and envision a bright future. What We Do
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada fill the critical gap between school and home. We provide welcoming, positive spaces where kids and teens can have fun, build meaningful relationships, and participate in programs that support academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character development. From homework help and enrichment activities to leadership development, sports, and creative expression, our programs are designed to meet youth where they are and help them grow into confident, capable adults. Guided by caring professionals and volunteers, Club members gain the skills, habits, and motivation they need to graduate high school, pursue their goals, and contribute positively to their communities. At every Club, we strive to ensure all young people feel valued, supported, and empowered to shape their own Great Futures.
Our History
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV) has a proud history rooted in community vision and a long-standing commitment to local youth. As a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, an organization with more than 150 years of national impact, BGCSNV brings time-tested youth development practices to Southern Nevada communities.
The organization’s local story began in 1959, when a group of community leaders recognized the need for a safe, positive place where young people could learn, grow, and feel supported outside of school hours. That vision became reality with the opening of the first Boys Club in North Las Vegas, serving just 50 youth. What started as a single Club quickly laid the foundation for decades of growth and impact.
Over the next several decades, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada expanded its reach to meet the evolving needs of families across the region. Today, the organization serves close to 14,000 youth each year, ages 6 to 18, at 13 Club locations throughout Southern Nevada.
Key Milestones
1959
Community leaders, including gaming pioneer Sam Boyd, found the first “Boys Club” in North Las Vegas, serving just 50 members.
1984
The Las Vegas Boys and Girls Club Foundation is established to build a long-term financial “safety net” for the local clubs.
1990
In alignment with the national organization, local clubs officially rename themselves “Boys & Girls Clubs”
to formally include and recognize female members.
2013
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV) is officially formed, encompassing 17 locations and roughly 30,000 youth, when the boards of both the Henderson and Las Vegas chapters announce a merger.
2023
The organization deepens its impact by hiring licensed Youth Mental Health Therapists and
introducing group therapy sessions directly within the clubs.
2025
The Kish Early Childhood Learning Center opens, expanding the organization’s reach to preschool age children.
2025
In partnership with the Clark County School District, BGCSNV opens four school-based sites to create a stronger connection between classroom learning and after-school enrichment.
2027
The Shaquille O’Neal Youth Complex opens, a 87,000 square-foot site that will include a state-of-the-art clubhouse,
a Raiders-themed sports field, and a UFC-themed MMA center.
